In 2013, Sarpaneva Design Oy commissioned the Iittala glass factory to produce a limited reproduction series of Timo Sarpaneva’s Finlandia glass sculpture series that he designed in the 1960s.
The Finlandia sculptures and vases are made by blowing the glass into a wooden mould. Developed by Timo Sarpaneva, this technique creates a completely unique surface pattern on the glass as the molten glass burns into the wood. The technique also ensures that each piece is completely unique.
